Two Peace students getting leadership training
Peace students Kayla Michaels and Laura Beth Price are taking part in a leadership training program called Leadership Triangle College Edition.
Michaels, a sophomore elementary education and leadership studies major from Raleigh, and Price, a sophomore child development major from Rose Hill, are among a group of 20 students from Triangle-area colleges and universities taking part in the program.
The group met for the first time on Jan. 29 at Cisco System's RTP campus.
The Leadership Triangle College Edition is modeled after Leadership Triangle, an 18-year-old program for business and community leaders. The newly introduced College Edition seeks to inspire and engage participants as they begin to make the transition from college students to active and engaged citizens by providing experiential learning about issues facing the region and exploration of the role nonprofits, government and business play in developing solutions.
Two representatives from each university and college based in the Triangle were nominated by their schools. Besides Peace College, participating schools include Duke University, Durham Technical Community College, Meredith College, N.C. Central University, N.C. State, Shaw University, St. Augustine's College, UNC-Chapel Hill and Wake Technical Community College.
