Bingham Award for Campus Excellence
The faculty and staff at William Peace University give much of themselves through their daily work to better serve our institution and move it forward. Laura Carpenter Bingham ’77, Former Peace College President (1998-2010), along with former First Man Warren Louis Bingham, experienced firsthand the dedication exhibited by Peace faculty and staff. And it was the Binghams’ belief that the talents and resolve of university employees that determine the excellence of the institution and, as such, are these faculty and staff are the soul and spirit of Peace.
As a result of their passion and generosity, in December 2005, the Bingham Award for Excellence endowment was born.
This honor is awarded to Peace employees in recognition of their meritorious performance in serving students, alumni, benefactors, and the greater civic good. Nominations are submitted by fellow faculty and staff based on traits of excellence in their colleagues’ work at the University. Employees are nominated in the categories of Customer Service, Efficiency and Innovation, Civic Engagement and the Spirit of Peace.
Thanks to the previous generosity of the Bingham’s, faculty and staff were presented the opportunity to nominate their peers to receive the Bingham Fund for Campus Excellence in 2019. There were many deserving employees nominated for this honor; but ultimately, after deliberation among President Brian Ralph, Ph.D. and the WPU Senior Leadership Team, four members of the Peace community were presented with the award during the university’s annual 2019 Employee Holiday Luncheon.
The 2019 Bingham Award for Campus Excellence recipients include: Carolyn Blattner, Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs; Bobbie Cole, Assistant Vice President of Student Life & Director of Residence Life; Cody Arroyo-Greene, Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing; and Amy White, Assistant Professor of Theatre. It is without doubt that we stand upon a solid foundation thanks to our exemplary faculty and staff, donors, and the vision of Peace’s past leadership and their own personal investment in the success of our University.
