In August 2026, Triangle Business Journal announced its annual Community Champion Awards winners including Sara Stephens ’03, a Peace graduate who built a career in nonprofit leadership and service-oriented work.

Ahead of the 2026-27 academic year, William Peace University appointed three new department chairs to boost student success.

Domingo (“Derek”) Hernandez-Martinez ’23 came to William Peace University with one clear goal: to run for the cross country team. But running would turn out to be only the beginning of his path at Peace – a path that saw him grow as a dedicated researcher and discover a passion for education that would shape his future.
At William Peace University, three professors are challenging traditional grading systems in the classroom. Their goal is to reduce testing anxiety and help students master the key proficiencies needed to excel in the course and beyond.
William Peace University faculty piloted an innovative undergraduate research lab program. The two-week intensive workshop gave first-year students applied experience designing and conducting their own research projects, grounded in their interests and experiences.

For 21 years, William Peace University has been celebrating the achievements of its students through Showcase, an annual, day-long conference designed to highlight students’ academic and creative talents.
