Get ready to roll the dice — William Peace University is officially a featured property in MONOPOLY: Raleigh Edition, which was released on September 23, 2026. The classic Hasbro game, which celebrated its 90th anniversary last year, has taken a spin through the City of Oaks. Peace’s historic presence in downtown Raleigh earned the University a spot on the board.
As a green higher education property square that coincidentally matches the University’s signature color, Peace will be represented as players battle it out to “purchase” Raleigh’s best-known sites. The game, retailing for $39.99, is produced by Top Trumps USA under exclusive license from Hasbro.
After Top Trumps USA spent months fielding public suggestions, Peace joined the iconic game board alongside fellow Raleigh institutions including North Carolina State University, the North Carolina Museum of Art, Pullen Park, the Carolina Hurricanes, and more.
“Having a place on the Monopoly game board feels especially fitting because Peace has had a place in the heart of Raleigh for generations,” President Jennifer Walsh said. “Since 1857, Peace has opened doors of opportunity through education and helped generations of students build meaningful lives and careers. It is wonderful to know that families will gather around this game for years to come and see Peace as a vital part of Raleigh’s past, present, and future.”
Peace’s presence on the game board reflects the University’s growth and brand evolution over the past few years.
“This partnership is a visible expression of Peace’s evolution,” said Karen Dunton, vice president for marketing, communications & external relations. “We hope Peace’s inclusion in the game brings pride to the Peace community when they see their alma mater represented. We also hope it encourages players to learn more about our campus, history, and the remarkable people who make Peace special.”
Celebrating the Launch
On launch day, the Top Trumps USA team hosted an event at Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park at the North Carolina Museum of Art. They welcomed community members to see the game board unveiled and officially announced which iconic landmarks, businesses, and institutions made the cut. The Peace community joined the celebration and received a large cutout of the University’s property square from the game. Guests also had the opportunity to take photos with Mr. Monopoly and to celebrate the occasion with fellow community partners.
“I am super excited that we are getting our own Raleigh edition of Monopoly,” Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell said at the launch event. “And I’m also really pleased that the residents of Raleigh shared what they most valued about our city. As we look at some of our mascots, I’m reminded of the incredible educational institutions here. We are a college town — that makes Raleigh really special, and some of those are represented on the board. Now, everybody who plays Raleigh Monopoly is going to understand all of those special things about the City of Raleigh.”
The Top Trumps USA team reflected on the excitement and community support surrounding the game’s launch.
“It really is a testament to how excited you have been over the last year, and we’re so grateful for your support,” Katie Hubbard, sales executive at Top Trumps USA, said. “We’re so excited to celebrate not only your iconic locations in Raleigh but also the importance of play and the fact that you are such a strong, proud community. This is a great way to celebrate that togetherness through what makes your community worth celebrating.”
A New Friend for Phantom
Phantom, Peace’s mascot, made an unlikely friend ahead of the game’s launch: Mr. Monopoly himself. Phantom welcomed Mr. Monopoly to Peace’s historic campus for a tour and a chance to play the new game together. The pair also reunited at the launch event, symbolizing Pacer pride at the game’s debut.
“Seeing Phantom with Mr. Monopoly can’t help but make you smile,” Dunton said. “Phantom represents the spirit of Peace, while Mr. Monopoly is an iconic symbol recognized across generations. Bringing them together celebrates the University’s inclusion in a way that is playful, distinctive, and unmistakably Peace.”
