FAQs

Course Formats & Structure

What is an online course?

An online course is offered 100% asynchronously online. All assignments, testing, and peer discussions take place on a computer via an Internet connection.

What is a hybrid/blended course?

If you take an on-campus course, it is offered as a hybrid/blended course. A hybrid course meets on-campus typically once a week for 3 hours. There is also a portion of the course that is then completed outside of the scheduled class time, online. Students enrolled in an on-campus, hybrid course should expect to complete an additional 10 hours of coursework outside of the in-person class meetings.

How much time should I expect to spend in an online course?

You should expect to spend the same amount of time on an online course as you would attending and studying for an on-campus course. IMPORTANT! Students enrolled in an online course should expect to spend a minimum of 15 hours per week for a 4-credit course.

How can I explore classes?

Check out our Academic Catalog.

How do I turn in assignments, communicate with my instructor, or take exams?

We make it easy by using a program called Canvas. Don’t worry — we’ll help you set that up after you enroll. Your homework assignments, communication with your professor, and even your tests will take place using this online platform. If you have any trouble, your instructor will offer times when he/she is available for phone or video calls. IT is also available to provide technical assistance.

Paying for College

How soon should I complete the FAFSA?

You should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as soon as possible. It is ideal to complete the FAFSA when you apply to the institution. Remember to complete the FAFSA for the year that you plan to enroll. Enter Peace’s school code: 002953

What documents/information will I need to complete the FAFSA?

You will need to have the following information/documents to complete the FAFSA:

  • Social Security Number (or registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen)
  • FSA ID
  • It is BEST to use the Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) on the FAFSA if at all possible. This makes the FAFSA process simple and ensures accurate information. This links directly to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
  • If you are unable to use the DRT, you should have your federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of money earned.
  • Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
  • Parent (Contributor) email address
  • Enter Peace’s school code: 002953.

Please note – it can take up to time for the financial aid office to receive your information after you complete the FAFSA and at least another 5 business days to create your financial aid package.

I have submitted a FAFSA. How do I know if I qualify for a federal Pell grant or optional student loans?

After you have been admitted to Peace Online, as long as you have included Peace on your FAFSA (Federal School Code #002953), you will receive a Financial Aid Package. You will be notified via an email sent from the Office of Financial Aid, and you will also receive a phone call from our Director of Online Enrollment & Partnerships, Tara Whitbread, who will walk you through your package.

For more information, you may reach out to the Office of Financial Aid at 919-508-2394 or finaid@peace.edu.

Is there a payment plan option?

Yes! We offer a number of payment plan options, depending on your specific needs.  For details, please email studentacconts@peace.edu. They would be happy to assist you on an individual basis.
