Presidential Announcement

On behalf of the William Peace University Board of Trustees, I am honored to share that the Board has voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Jennifer E. Walsh as the 13th President of William Peace University, effective June 1, 2026.

Dr. Walsh brings more than 25 years of experience in academic administration and strategic planning. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Chief Strategy Officer at Hawai‘i Pacific University, where she led transformative growth through innovative academic programs, strong community partnerships, and a deep commitment to accessibility and affordability in higher education.

Throughout the search process, Dr. Walsh consistently demonstrated a passion for innovation while acknowledging the importance of honoring an institution’s history and evolution. She understands that what makes Peace distinctive is not only our commitment to immersive learning and career preparation but our dedication to cultivating a strong community.

The Board and Search Committee were especially inspired by Dr. Walsh’s ability to listen, collaborate, and lead with authenticity. She is a relationship-builder who values the voices of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners alike. Her leadership style will help strengthen Peace’s connections across Raleigh and throughout North Carolina while fostering our commitment to one another and Peace.

I would like to thank the members of the Board of Trustees and Search Committee for their dedication to this process and President Morton for her exceptional leadership and support.

The Board of Trustees could not be more enthusiastic about welcoming Dr. Walsh to the Peace community. We are confident that her leadership will build on the University’s strong foundation, advance its strategic vision, and strengthen its role as a cornerstone of higher learning in Raleigh and across the region.

This appointment represents an exciting new chapter for William Peace University. All who are connected with Peace should feel extremely proud of what the University has done and continues to do — this is the next step in fulfilling our mission of preparing students for meaningful careers in an ever-changing workforce.

With Peace,
Rob Wood
Chair, Board of Trustees
