William Peace University is pleased to welcome Scott Kemp as the University’s next Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer.
Kemp is a strategic finance executive and trusted organizational leader with deep experience across higher education, nonprofit, logistics, and manufacturing sectors. Known for his collaborative style and steady, transparent approach, he has led financial and treasury operations, endowment stewardship, debt management, governance partnerships, and large-scale operational transformations in complex institutions.
Kemp is looking forward to taking on his new role.
“Joining William Peace University as the Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer is an incredible opportunity, and I couldn’t be more excited to get started,” Kemp said.
He brings a track record of strengthening financial resilience, modernizing processes, and building high-trust relationships with boards, donors, and cross-functional teams throughout his career.
President Jennifer Walsh observed that Kemp’s background made him an ideal fit for the role.
“I am delighted to welcome Scott to Peace. He brings an exceptional combination of financial expertise, deep higher education experience, and collaborative leadership that will be invaluable as we move into our next phase of strategic growth,” Walsh said. “His thoughtful approach to financial stewardship will help ensure that we invest wisely in our students, our people, and the long-term strength of the University.”
Proven Expertise Across Industries
Kemp comes to Peace from Syracuse University, where he served as Associate Vice President and Treasurer for the past 17 years. Prior to that, he worked in a large manufacturing operation near Syracuse, NY, progressing through a variety of finance-related roles.
His educational background and credentials are robust, with a B.S. in Accounting from SUNY Geneseo and an MBA from LeMoyne College. Scott is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
Now, Kemp is bringing that wealth of experience to Peace, where he’s energized by the direction of the University.
“From my very first conversations on campus, I was impressed by how genuinely collaborative and supportive the staff are with one another. It is clear this is a place where people care deeply about the community they’ve built together,” Kemp said. “But what ultimately convinced me was President Walsh’s vision for where Peace is headed. I can’t wait to be part of turning that vision into reality, and to help carry the institution’s legacy forward.”
