New Peace students arrive this weekend

William Peace University students new and old will make their way on campus this weekend.

Move-in day for Pacers will be August 16-17. The first day, Friday, will be for first-year students. Upperclassmen and transfers will arrive Saturday.

Move-in times will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Students and their families will enter campus off of Peace Street, park in the main lot and pick up their keys in front of Flowe. Afterward, they’ll get back in their cars and follow a traffic pattern, directing them to their building.

“It’s been the same operation that we ran last year and it’s really smooth,” said Assistant Director of Residence Life Cody Greene.

On Saturday the upperclassmen will pick up their keys in front of Fraizer, including students who live in Village Green, the off campus student apartments.

Besides the occasional facilities question or key issues, Greene said there are not a whole lot of concerns with the move-in process. A list of what to bring and what not to bring is also sent out to students ahead of heading to the downtown Raleigh campus.

Green wanted to emphasize that students be sure that all holds are clear with student accounts because they won’t be able to receive their keys if there is a hold.

Also, there are some housekeeping rules when it comes to move-in day.

“Things we’ve had over the last couple of years is like the only animals allowed in buildings are registered emotional support animals,” Greene said. “We’ve had families show up with their whole family and their dog on move-in day, that’s not registered, and we had to tell them ‘sorry, you’ll have to wait outside with the animal.’”
