The Rocket League and Overwatch teams have been battling it out so far this NACE season. As midseason rolls around and as playoffs approach, each team is closely looking at the standings and hoping to go beyond the cutoff line of the postseason.
Rocket League
With no match this week the Pacers took practice with intensity and were scrimmaging other teams to prepare for next week. The Pacers so far are 1-2 on the season sitting in the 6th and last spot to qualify for the postseason. These next matches are going to be huge for playoffs qualification and seeding.
“The Rocket League team has recently reached some major breakthroughs in gameplay development which should shine brightly through the remainder of the season. After the team’s first victory, they now sit with a 1-2 record and momentum. With a new focus on pace, they have naturally found confidence in their own mechanics as well as a deeper chemistry with each other,” said Head Esports Coach Coleman Arehart.
There is a lot of positivity going into the last stretch of the season. The team has high hopes on their ability to be a better team,
“I think the team has improved a lot as a team so far,” said Braydan “K0egs” Koegel.
K0egs has been a big part of the team, Captain Hernan “Herbanian” Ruedas calls him a “difference maker on the field.”
These next games will be huge and must win games for the pacers in order to qualify for the playoffs. “We need to bring the intensity into every match and focus on one match at a time,” said Ruedas.
The Pacers will return to action on Monday October 21 at 7 p.m. against Barton College via Twitch.
Overwatch
This week the Overwatch Pacers took on Virginia Wesleyan University, although the Pacers were down a few players for this match. The Pacers were outmatched in this series and fell to the Marlins 0-3 in the best of 5 series. The Pacers now sit at 1-3 on the season and tied for 5th in the standings.
“So far, there have been a good amount of unexpected changes to the team, but this has given us a lot of time to better our team and strengthen the bonds of our players. Going into the second half of the season, I wish that our team keeps their heads high and wills fortified as we continue to fight for the win,” said captain Sam “Starman” Wagoner.
These unexpected changes to the team have been unfortunate but the team still believes and thinks they will succeed.
“I think we started off the season strong with a win, and the synergy of the team is really great. Even though the past two games we were down a few players, we still managed to fight strong and keep a positive attitude. As long as we keep that up then we’re winning in my books,” said Mia “Jaded” Perrotta.
The Pacers will need to start to turn things around quickly as the Pacers only have three matches left with their playoff hopes up in the air.
