As the season nears its end, the Rocket League and Overwatch teams are in a heated fight for playoff spots, making every match crucial. With just two weeks left, preparation has reached a new level of intensity as the Pacers ramp up their practice efforts to be ready for these must-win battles. Each game is a chance to secure their postseason hopes, and both teams are focused on bringing their best.
Rocket League
After coming off their first win of the season, the Pacers were looking for back-to-back wins for the first time, taking on the undefeated Barton College Bulldogs.
The series started slow for the Pacers as they dropped game one 3-0 and game two 4-2. Things were not clicking as the Pacers were not adjusting to the pace of play the Bulldogs brought. Game three was a different story as the Pacers held on to a 1-0 lead for the win. Game 4 was very similar as the Pacers played shutdown defense and shutout the Bulldogs 2-0. The Pacers entered five on fire as they looked for the reverse sweep. After a defensive duel, the Pacers fell 1-0 and lost the series in game 5.
“For this match, we were down a player, so it was an adjustment, but I’m proud of the team for sticking with it and taking it to the brink,” said Captain Hernan “Herbanian” Ruedas.
The Pacers will take on Mount St. Joseph University on October 28th at 8 p.m. via Twitch.
Overwatch
As the regular season is winding down, the Pacers were looking to get back on track and start winning some games as they sit outside a playoff spot as of today. The Pacers took on Manchester University looking for their first win since week 1 of the season.
Unfortunately, the Pacers were outmatched and didn’t manage a single win in the series. The Pacers now sit at 1-4 on the season with two games left in the season. The playoff picture is dimming as they are tied for 5th in the conference. The Pacers head into next week with a must-win game in order to secure a spot.
“As the season is starting to end, we’re looking back on our past mistakes and, as a team working them out and learning how to improve on them. We’re still going to hold on to hope as we squeak out enough wins to make the playoffs,” said Captain Sam “Starman” Wagoner
