PacerAlerts & Emergency Notifications
The PacerAlert system sends short text messages to the cell phones of all Peace students, parents, faculty, and staff in case of an emergency or severe/adverse weather conditions. Students and parents must subscribe to the alert system to receive messages.

Available 24 hours a day, year-round, William Peace University’s Public Safety Officers are responsible for maintaining order and public safety. They can be contacted at (919) 508-2401 for non-emergency situations. Emergencies involving suspicious activities and immediate threats, such as a crime in progress or a person acting in a manner that poses a threat to themselves or others, should be reported to the Office of Public Safety immediately by calling (919) 833-2277. Emergency phones designated by blue lights are located at various points on campus for urgent situations.
Clery Act Compliance
In 1990, the U.S. Congress enacted the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act, which requires postsecondary institutions to disclose campus crime statistics and
security information. The act was renamed the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act in 2024.
The Clery Act requires higher education institutions to give timely warnings of crimes and offenses that represent a threat to the safety of students or employees, and to make public their campus security policies. It also requires that crime data be collected, reported, and disseminated to the campus community, and that it be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education. The act is intended to provide students and their families, as higher education consumers, with accurate, complete, and timely information about campus safety so they can make informed decisions.
The Stop Campus Hazing Act
The University is dedicated to fostering an environment where all campus members can learn, work, and live free from physical or psychological harm that may occur during recruitment, initiation, or participation in student organizations, clubs, or athletic teams. To achieve this, the University strictly prohibits hazing and actively works to prevent and address all hazing incidents involving members of the campus community. In accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, an amendment to the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, the University will gather hazing statistics for the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, publish and regularly update a Campus Hazing Transparency Report, and offer hazing prevention awareness programs.
Hazing Transparency Reports
The University’s Campus Hazing Transparency Report provides information about university-recognized student organizations that have been found responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct related to hazing. This report is updated twice a year and covers violations that occur both on and off campus.
William Peace University has no findings of hazing to report for 2025.
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act) requires campuses to gather and publish statistics for certain crimes that happen on campus or within a specific geographic area (Peace Clery Geography). This information is published every October in the University’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASR). Starting in October 2026, the University will include hazing statistics in the ASR.
Unlike the Campus Hazing Transparency Report, hazing statistics in the ASR include all reported instances of hazing that meet the Clery Act definition of hazing and were reported to have occurred within the Peace Clery Geography. The ASR includes all reports of hazing reportedly committed by students, employees, recognized and non-University-recognized student organizations, or by individuals unaffiliated with the institution, regardless of whether violations were found.
