As the teams head into week 2, the season is ramping up, and practices are starting to get more intense. As it’s very early in the season, teams are learning to play with each other and trying out new strategies.
Rocket League team struggles continue
After last week’s defeat, the Rocket League team is looking to bounce back and gain its first win of the season. In this week’s match against the University of Arkansas at Monticello, each game was very close and competitive as the Pacers fell 3-0 in a best-of-five series. Game 1 of the series was a slow start for the Pacers as they gave up three early goals and ultimately lost 3-1. Games 2 and 3 were much closer as each game was decided by just one goal, as the scores were 3-2 and 2-1.
Captain Hernan “Herbanian” Ruedas was frustrated about the recent loss.
“This series was frustrating, but it was an improvement from last week,” Ruedas said. “We have to take it week by week as it’s a process. It’s a new team, so it’s going to take time to get used to each other’s playstyle”.
Next week, the Pacers will take on the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Monday, October 7th, at 8:30 p.m. via Twitch as they look for their first win of the season.
Overwatch continues to compete
As matchday two approached, the Overwatch team was looking to stay undefeated as they took on Columbia College.
After last week’s nail-biter against UNCG, the Pacers took the series the distance into game five but could not come through as they were defeated 3-2 in the best of 5 series. The Pacers will fall to 1-1 on the season.
“While we did lose our most recent match, we didn’t go down easily,” team captain Sam “Starman” Wagoner said. “We stayed resilient until the very end. Right now, the best we can do is reflect on our mistakes and come back from this loss stronger than ever”.
The Pacers will take on Albright College on Monday, October 8th, at 7pm via Twitch.
