With the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) season starting on September 23, Peace’s esports teams are beginning to prepare for their upcoming matches.
Rocket League will play their matches on Mondays and Overwatch will play on Tuesdays, starting at 7 p.m. The Super Smash Bros team will not compete in NACE but will seek tournaments to compete in during the fall semester.
Rocket League
With new faces on the roster, practices look very different compared to last year, with a new captain Hernan “Herbanian” Ruedas looking to lead the squad to a championship.
Braydan “K0egs” Koegel is one of the new faces of the upcoming season.
“Despite losing our previous captain and having to find new players, the team is continuing to improve as we attempt to solidify a third player for our main team,” Koegel said. “The B team is also making major headway and is looking forward to their first NACE season.”
Overwatch
Preseason practices for the Overwatch team have been successful as they have started to find some chemistry with the new-look team. Captain Sam “Starman” Wagoner is excited about the upcoming season.
“The preseason practices have been a blast. We have some recruits that instantly clicked with the rest of the team,” Wogner said. “We started to prepare by having players determine what roles they want to play as well as start on improving communication.
Super Smash Bros
The Smash team has lots of potential to succeed in tournaments. Captain Nathan “Hawx” Hawxwell said the team has amazing new talent this year.
“We are already hard at work trying to improve our skills to place even better at tournaments in the future,” he said.
